Carrying on from yesterday’s “Getting Ready” post, we move forward to our first look.
You see, Dave and I are people of routine and are rather fond of tradition. We like our morning coffee together, our daily walks with our munchkin, Guinness, the adorable labradoodle and our PM tv time and reading while cuddling.
At this point, Dave and I had been apart for nearly 72 hours, which left this little lady slightly overwhelmed and anxious. I wanted nothing more than to see my sweety and have him wrap his arms around me. Like Carrie told Big, “You and Me. Just us two.” I needed that moment to just savour his presence and appreciate his touch.
This feeling took me back to my childhood: memories of hide and seek and the anticipation of finally finding your friend. I can remember taking it all in; the view, the smell, the incredible light and him: handsome and stylish in his custom suit.
Back to back we stood, only able to touch and feel; our sensations creating the image of what we were soon to see in each other.
And being the sentimental fools that we are, we exchanged our hand-made love notes, to be read aloud, one at a time.
As ridiculous as it may seem to some, our love has conquered much in our 4 years together. And reminiscence of our favorite love story, “the notebook” I tailed my card around it’s theme, creating a miniature notebook inside the card, expressing my heart in purest form.
Our friends have been our biggest supporters through the years and it seemed only appropriate to share this moment with them. They are our family at heart; the ones we’ve chosen for ourselves.
Dave’s card blew me out of the water, perfectly crafted and stylish in form, thanks to the over-sight of my dear friend, Michelle. His card, rather book, shared the journey of his heart from the place of meeting, to standing here now, ready to commit our whole selves to each other, entirely. For two, once independent, unemotional folk, we were the biggest saps of all.
Turning around felt like most surreal dream and I can remember wanting to burst into tears. And at that moment, all felt right in the world.
I could have stood beneath that tree for hours taking in his scent, his touch and his smile.
As you can probably assume by now, this was my favorite moment in all the day. And to my surprise, Perfect Pair Media captured it in it’s entirety and based our Same-day-Edit around it’s beauty.
