Heirloom Magazine Feature | Marie Antoinette Wedding

March 26

After nearly a year in the making, friends, it has me giddy to finally release the complete reel of images from our Heirloom Magazine feature.

This opulent and luxurious Marie Antoinette Wedding, debuted as the magazine’s centrefold and headlining editorial in the Winter 2013 Issue. In was an absolute honour to breath life into this editorial, from conception to it’s remarkable execution!

The inspiration came while I was sick in bed, seriously! I had been under house arrest with a nasty bug for nearly a week and during that time [not unlike most of my sicky adventures] I made my way through some of my favourite classics : Funny Face, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the Sound of Music and of course, Marie Antoinette.

In little time my head was spinning- an outpour of inspiration for bringing old world charm from the French Revolution, to a modern day setting. We ultimately took this concept further by transforming it into an opulent, intimate evening elopement.

We honoured tradition through the florals, each elements base design and the decor accents, while introducing a modern flair in the venue, the brides golden gown and the table setting’s custom sequin overlay.

In all honesty, this day will forever be treasured. While it set my passion on fire to bring such a vibrant vision to life, I was most touched  by the support of my incredible family. Both my husband, my mom, my dad and brother were there to watch me orchestrate this editorial and offer a pair of hands if needed. Each time I turned around, there they were with a silly smile plastered across their faces.

Starting out along-side my mother doing parasol garden weddings, this day brought me full circle. Here she was, watching her baby girl, now adult daughter do the things she once dream of…. the things she once did and passionately passed down. I shed more than a few tears. I am so grateful to have a family who not only loves me, but will drop everything to simply be there to show they care.

You’ve heard it before, but I’ll say it again… sometimes loving someone just means showing up.

Watch the magic unfold, with this behind-the-scenes trailer which was pre-released just before the magazine’s launch.

And it goes with question that the team of collaborators who came together for this production were phenominal; a true dream team! They brought their A games and without their dedicated hard work, none of this would have been possible. It was my sincere honour to work along side them….
