It’s hard to believe nearly a year and a half has passed since I met with Amber and her sweet Mom, Michelle at my favourite local cafe, The Little White House. When I shared with Amber that I wanted to treat her to my special spot, we both leapt in delight at our shared passion for this Fort Langley gem.
Instantly, I feel in love with these two, their kindred bond and Amber’s hopes for a lovely, vintage inspired wedding day that honoured the things and people that mattered most to her.
Over the months, what initially started as my involvement with decor, transformed into partial and then eventually full service wedding planning and design. I could not have been more thrilled to be welcomed into this family’s journey to the aisle… and that’s exactly what it’s been: a family affair!
Each time I meet with Amber, Morgan and their family, I leave beaming with gratitude for the clients I am blessed to work with. They touch my lives, as much as I aspire to be light in theirs, both during and after their wedding experience.
It’s with great excitement and a bittersweet sadness that I usher in their wedding day this Sunday. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me and for allowing me the privilege of walking along side you in this once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
1. Describe yourselves as a couple, in 3 words
SO. MUCH. FUN.
Really though! I could come up with a million and one words to describe us as a couple but what really sticks out to me is that there is not a single day that goes by where we’re not having fun, smiling and laughing together. That’s my favourite part about us.
Life is far too short not to be smiling!
2. What’s your perfect sunday
If it was raining, then definitely sleeping in, followed by waffles for brunch and watching a Star Wars marathon while staying in out PJ’s ALL DAY LONG!
If it’s nice out, then after we eventually get up and out of bed, heading downtown to shop, making sure to visit our favourite boutiques, like Golden Age Collectables. For dinner, we’d check out a restaurant we have yet to try.
3. What matters most on Wedding Day?
4. What special touches are you adding to your wedding, to create an authentic and genuine portrayal of your two hearts?
Morgan has labeled our wedding “Geek Chic”. From the start of our relationship he’s really brought out my inner geek. So, we are merging my love for all things vintage and beautiful and his passion of all things geekery! Seriously!
The groomsmen will each be representing their favourite comic book characters through their boutonnieres and cufflinks. We have a special cake topper that is SO US and I surprised him on his birthday by renting a real DeLorean to show up on Wedding Day!
5. What have you learnt so far in your wedding planning that you could offer as advice to other brides to be?
Stop worrying about the little details and focus more on the big picture.
What really matters in the end is that the two of you are about to get married; one of the best things that will ever happen in your life!
As much as I love them to pieces, focusing on the small details doesn’t really matter. Only you would notice if something isn’t there. Thank you Kailey for continuing to remind this very detail oriented girl of just this!
6. What drew you to Kailey Michelle Events and excites you most about working with them?
At first is was her style. Looking through Kailey-Michelle’s portfolio and being like “thats my dream wedding!” Then, when we sat down to met her, my mom and I just couldn’t get over her personality and her energy.
I can’t even put it into words but I feel so amazing and happy when she is around.
Kailey-Michelle has been a serious godsend to us. With our busy lives, work and unexpected life events Kailey has played a huge part in helping us stay on track and grounded. I would be a far more serious stress case if it wasn’t for her and I know Morgan very much appreciates that as well. 😉 I have all the faith in the world that having her run the show on our day was the best investment we could have ever made.
This seriously fun dynamo couple and their Kirkland House Wedding take place THIS Sunday and you too can follow along behind the scenes on Instagram.
A big thanks to Matt Kennedy for their engagement photos. Him and his wife Carissa rock big time; one of KME’s absolute favourite Vancouver Wedding Photographers to work with!
