February 26

As KME grows, I am more and more in awe of the plans God has for this little lady and her dreams. What started as a boutique wedding planning company, is quickly flourishing into a place where brides can come to plan each element of their special day with trusted professionals who feel more like friends than family!

I understand that planning your wedding is an extremely intimate and personal experience, so surrounding yourself with individuals who simply “get you” is more than recommended, it’s essential! It creates a secure environment where your needs get heard, your heart’s desires soar and your experience is nothing short of heart warming.

At Kailey Michelle Events, this is my very goal; to provide an array of Vancouver Wedding Planning services that embody distinctive class, graceful poise and gentle professionalism.

It is my greatest joy to introduce two NEW divisions of Wedding services to help illuminate your vision and set your love story on fire!

... Because you, my friend, deserve your fairytale!

Vancouver Wedding Planner | Introducing KME’s newest associate

October 25

This past wedding season, I was blessed to have a few incredible interns. Many of them blew me out of the water; their passion, drive and dedication was inspiring. Their willingness to get their hands dirty [and feet tired] was astounding and their acute attention to detail is what had me hooked.

Meet, Chiara. This sensationally driven and equally beautiful lady was a gift from above. From the moment she walked into my life, I knew she was the one I had been waiting for. And in no time, it became obvious KME would be her home.

It is with the utmost excitement I introduce you to KME’s newest associate planner. You’ll be seeing her face around the blog more often as she shares her  journey through completion of her Wedding Planning Certification. You’ll also see her along side me, as she learns the ropes in taking on her own KME clients.

Thank you lovelies, for welcoming Chiara with open arms. Please leave her some love and encouragement below!

Name: Chiara Demutiis

Home Town: White Rock, BC

Birthday/ Sign: April 22 / Taurus

Favourite Food: Anything and everything Italian! I know it seems biased since I am 50% Italian, but everything is just so delicious!

Favourite Color: Black. It goes with everything! As a women, I love things that are flattering and versatile. When one piece of clothing is black, my options for everything else are endless. What woman wouldn’t want unlimited options? ;)

Favourite Magazine: Wedluxe Magazine. I know what you’re thinking.. A wedding magazine is your favourite? Of course! Up until I started planning my own wedding, magazines weren’t much of an interest for me. Sure, I’d like to catch up on celebrity gossip (who doesn’t) but there was never anything that drew me in. That was until I fell in love with weddings. Wedluxe is one of the many Canadian magazines that showcases local (and of course non-local) BC weddings and vendors. It’s a great magazine to keep updated on “who’s who” and what’s going on in the wedding industry. When you are like me and want to know “all things wedding”, this is definitely the type of magazine that pulls you in as a reader.

People would be surprise to know: I REALLY love to dance. I always wanted to be a dancer growing up, but I was more involved in sports like baseball. Looking back, I definitely wish I had just gone for it and taken dance lessons!

I swoon for:

  •  Horror flicks (I love being scared)
  •  Coffee dates with friends (Nothing is better than catching up on life)
  •   Frank Sinatra & Tony Bennett (I would have loved to live in the 1950′s)
  •   Vintage decor (My apartment is slowly being consumed by it)
  •   The color blush pink (Even my wedding dress was blush)
  •   Lululemon yoga pants (Comfort is my weakness)
  •   “I love you” (Those 3 words will never go out of style)

My personal motto: ”The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.” It is actually tattooed on my right shoulder. (I originally heard it from Moulin Rouge – as most of you hopeless romantics already know!)

My Perfect Sunday: Let’s see. It would start out with breakfast with my Husband down at White Rock beach. A nice spot outside so that we can see a clear view of the ocean. Next would be a trip to HomeSense or Urban Barn (yes, shopping) but to browse for home decor. I LOVE decorating my home. Even if I don’t find anything, it is always fun to look for accents. This would be followed by time with our family. I come from a very large family, so there tends to be an event at least a few Sundays out of the month. It just becomes natural, so it’s easy to love it. Not a very busy Sunday, but just busy enough to keep me satisfied. :)

How I got into Weddings: I had one.. And fell in love! Everything from the planning/coordinating, all the way down to the very last tiny details of the decor.  I had found my new true love and I knew that I had to find my way into the industry. Many thanks to one of my (favourite) wedding vendors for setting me up with Kailey Michelle. I was given an opportunity that I could only ever dream about. Along with my new position as an Associate Planner with Kailey Michelle Events, I will be studying online to become a Certified Wedding Planner. I will be posting a weekly blog and sharing this journey will all of you in the KME community. I am just so excited!

My favourite moment in a wedding: The end of the ceremony. It melts my heart when the couple is announced to all of their family and friends as “Husband and Wife”! I truly believe that nothing is more official than being introduced to the most important people in your lives as Mr. and Mrs.

If money were no object, my dream wedding in a nutshell: Oh that’s an easy one. My dream wedding in a nutshell would be our entire family and all of our friends on the stunning beaches of Capri, Italy. A gorgeous sunset ceremony and then an all night reception in the city. An all around great party, even open to the tourists and locals!

Why I wanted to join KME: When I first met Kailey Michelle, I could tell right away that her and I were going to get along great! Not only does she have the best personality, but she also has the greatest passion for what she does. I guess you can say, I saw my future self in her. Everything she and KME stands for is what I want in my near future. I want to work as hard as she does, love weddings as much as she does and accomplish great things as she has.  We all want to work for a company who has the same goals and dedication as we do. KME is the perfect place for me. I can be myself and really “go for it” when it comes to my ideas and my desire to plan. In a short period of time, KME has already shown me that they stand for what is truly important when it comes to a wedding and the marriage that goes hand in hand with it; true love and happiness.

My promise to the KME community: My promise to you all is to be what Kailey Michelle refers to as an “open book”. I promise to share all of my successes and even any struggles that I may encounter throughout my journey with KME. To everyone in the KME community: As I will be learning and studying for weeks to come, I will keep you updated and be very open to any questions anyone of you may have about the process of becoming a Wedding Planner. If you have any inquiries, I’m your girl!

Vancouver Wedding Planner | The face behind KME

July 11

On a golden hued evening with the wind at our backs, myself and the ever talented, Jeanie Ow, set out on an adventure. Our mission? To capture my heart in stills.

“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” Proverbs 27:19

While to some it may have been a simple photo session, for me it was an opportunity to share my heart and soul, aside from my role as a professional Vancouver Wedding Planner. For months, I carefully pondered the setting, the mood and my companions.

While I may have city in my blood, my heart truly soars amidst the country air; the awe- inspiring beauty of nature, the smell that lingers in the air and the simple, slower pace of life. It sets my heart on fire and it’s in the time I spend entrenched in it’s aura, that my passion and purpose come to life.

“Great and marvellous are thy works.” Revelations 15:3

When life get’s busy and the never ending carousel seems overwhelming, I rest in the quite of the rolling landscape. With a book in hand and my phone turned off, I escape to quite corners off the beaten track. Be it in person or in sprit, this is where you’ll find me, beneath a majestic willow tree.

When I look at these photos I see joy, abundant and beautiful. I am ever grateful to Jeanie for capturing my essence, so authentically.

“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:12

A special thank you to the lovely ladies who helped make this day so memorable:

I solemnly vow, to you my friends…

February 21

Since the commence of 2012, I’ve been working hard at focusing on “quality over quantity.” It was my main objective for the new year and so far, I’ve reaped the rewards two-fold already.

As part of that goal, I outlined my desire to put efforts in establishing strong networking relationships, with like minded professionals who share my heart, passion and values.

Getting to know my fellow entrepreneurs has been an experience in itself: hearing their stories, their struggles, their hopes and dreams. It’s liberating and continues to inspire and push me forward in my own endeavors.

Through these chats, one topic continues to surface in conversation: support and admiration, for my dedication to my brand and pursuit of marching to the beat of a different drum.

Hearing people speak so fondly of my work and business practices, seriously melts me from the inside out! I put so much of my heart into what I do, that such comments and support, is the greatest complement a lady could be blessed with.

I spent nearly six months of my life working on me and my brand; to own my fears, grow in my weaknesses, recognize my niche, understand my true client and rediscover the heart of my talent. And though that process, I made a promise to myself, which inevitably became a promise to my business and to you, my lovely readers and clients.

So today, I wish to share that list with you. May it inspire you in your business, shed light on what I stand for and if nothing else, raise questions in your own heart.

I will listen: for your heart in everything we discuss
I will give credit: where credit is due and never claim to own creativity or be the best
I will be authentic: to your face, in my writing and in all I aspire to
I will communicate: efficiently, clearly and honestly- no crap. no small print. no hidden motives.
I won’t be trendy: I pride myself on my ability to set your love story on fire. I aim to transcend current trends to present genuine affairs, precious and special for reasons close to your heart
I will be personable: call me old-fashioned but I will write cards, meet you in person, come to your house and be your best friend, in body and through my writing
I will not be anxious: about how others view me, trying to be something I’m not or seeking to be loved by all
I will teach: and not hold my advice, experience and ways to myself. But rather help others, brides and professionals alike, in executing a dream to the best possible standards
I will inspire: by sharing my story, giving back and honoring the journey that continues to strengthen my character
I will be accountable: to my values, my practices, my standards and my beliefs
I will be empathetic to today’s economy: in my approach, my pricing and my style
I will share the big picture: by taking the time to remind you of the little things- the little blessings that make life seriously worth living. I may love grand and elaborate, but it’s the quiet and simple moments in life that truly set my heart on fire.

Thank you, friends, for taking the time to share in my heart! Now it’s your job to hold me accountable… Just Kidding!   Happy Tuesday, Lovelies!

Making Brands Happen Alumni | New Look of KME

October 7

The day has finally come and I could not possibly be more thrilled, to share the new look of Kailey-Michelle Events,” after a life changing journey with Making Brands Happen.

The road here was been one of great triumphs, countless blessings and immeasurable growth. God has instilled in me, a heart of pure joy and illuminated my passion in ways I only dreamt of. With the guidance of his steadfast hand, I sit humbled by His grace and in awe of wheres it brought me here, today. I wish nothing more, than for my joy to pump right off this screen and plant an infectious smile upon your face.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11

And with a promise of “No Regrets; this time, I’ll let my heart defeat my mind,” blossomed the beauty of what you see today. Over the last three months, this precious brand of mine has transformed into the most authentic and genuine representation of my soul. All that I am and aspire to bring to this world, has been generously poured into every page, every image and every single word.

Through my work, whether in person or in writing, I aim  to share the beauty of this life; from everyday moments, to monumental occasions. I wish to ignite your story, your very essence, on fire!

There are countless individuals that have helped make this journey a remarkable reality.

To my incredible branding team at “Making Brands Happen:” Lara, Emily and Cathy, your constant encouragement and words of wisdom have been one of my greatest blessings through this process.  Your talents and beautiful hearts, have helped shape not only this brand but this lady, in countless ways. You three, are like the perfect glass slipper; genuine, elegant and treasured. Thank you for sharing in my joy and illuminating the way.

To my friends and family: I am constantly humbled by your ever growing faith in me. Thank you for being an eternal source of hope, love and support. In times of doubt you pulled me up and in times of triumph, you cheered me on.  And as the walls came down, your grace shone through and calmed my fears. You held me accountable to my goals and ensured the real me shone through…. and thrived, above all else. But best of all, you’ve taught me how to love myself, flaws included and hold myself to a standard of grace, rather than perfection.

And to my husband, whom without, I would never have made it here. You are the very essence of my soul and bring the greatest joy to my life. You are the reason I wake each day, beaming in gratitude.  Thank you seems so small, for all you’ve been and continue to be. You are my refuge from the storm, my stillness in the chaos and my peace, in anxious times. Thank you for showing me where my heart truly lies but allowing me to flourish in my dreams. I love you with every nook and cranny of my heart! And while I could write to the ends of the earth, I can simply say, you complete me. You’re the blessing I count twice…and then twice again.

In the end, my faith has carried me through. God has impressed upon me a will to live for him and in exchange, shed light to joy, indescribable.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” ~ Romans 12:2

The image above is a collection of all I hoped my brand would become. But Truth be told, it far surpassed my greatest expectations! Praise God!

Thank you friends, for allowing me to share this joy; may it stir your heart and bring a smile to your face.
